The fun of playing in a rock band peaked for me in Blue Movie. David, Rich and I bonded like brothers, lived together, practiced, recorded and toured together for 3 terrific years. We split up after our second album and national tour failed to meet our expectations.

Too bad, on many levels it didn't get any better than this.

And of course now we're old and irrelevant. Or fat and happy, depending on your perspective. Actually, Rich stills writes and performs music and poetry down in LA and on the internets. He's indefatigable! Check out our new collaborations in the Downloads section!

This just in: we're not all fat. Here's a recent photo of David leading a sing-along at his daughter's 9th birthday party. Daughter Ella is holding the cat. David lives in Ann Arbor and in two weeks will acquire his PHD from the University of Michigan's English Department. The guitar looks vaguely familiar.

Hey Jim,

Thanks for putting this up. My old vinyl copies were wearing out. You guys were fun and had such great harmonies. As i remember you got your first shower at our place in Dallas on that first tour.

God this brings back memories... Blue Movie will always be one of my all time favorite bands. I used to see you guys alot when you played locally, and for years never knew what became of you (aside from David and Five Year Plan). Now 20 years later I find Rich on myspace and you here! Awesome!

And thanks for putting up the music! My vinyl was wearing out as well...

All the best,
Al

Wow, great updates! Love that picture of Dave leading the kids - I'll bet he's teaching them subversive union drinking songs or El Salvadoran rebel tunes.

He does look like he could use a sandwich, though!

Ahhh what a great stroll down memory lane. Used to love going to the shows and hanging out, especially when you would play my favourite. Remember which one that was?

Oh my goodness - no way! Jim the bass player from Blue Movie! You probably don't remember me but I saw you guys when you came through Tucson (was that really 22 years ago?) and played at the Student Union. We met when I had to pay you for the show & I told you I liked your Grateful Dead Kennedys shirt...I remember a fun weekend roaming around Tucson together and then later you played another show - I think at Club Congress? - and they wouldn't let me in - too young. :( So I sat out in the van and listened to the show and wrote my final paper for my English class. Got an A- I blame you guys for the minus. ;) I remember Blue Movie as a really original and fun band & Jim as a very smart guy, way too cute and full of great conversation. Thanks for the trip down fond memories lane. :) And also for the song downloads! I still have both of the albums too.

Best wishes Jim! - Stephanie

Tracy -- It's been a long time. Since the 17th and Noe days, before Gootee took off. Thanks for checking in. Um, which song was your favorite?

Stephanie -- Grateful Dead Kennedys, LOL! I do remember those 2 Tucson shows. Right at the end of our tour. Did you continue on in the music business? -- Jim
