(2009-01-09) - Now that it's Winter, it is probably time to post a Fall update. Check under the News link for prior stories. Happy New Year! In November, just 2 days after George Bush--I mean John McCain--was soundly defeated in the 2008 presidental election, Dot and I got word from our landlord that our rent was being raised $400. So we decided it was time for change indeed. We are closing on a house by the end of this month (January) and hope to be in it March 1st. More on that as it unfolds.
In other housing news my parents are moving out of our house in Bloomington, so at the same time we are rehabbing our new home here in the Bay Area, we'll be prepping the Indiana house to be a rental. When it rains it pours. 2009 finds us happy, healthy, and upbeat. So glad to get new leadership in Washington D.C., though Obama is reaching across the aisle a little too much for my taste. I'll reserve judgement at least until he is sworn in. In September I returned to Indiana to celebrate my father's 80th birthday. It was the first time my brother, sister, parents and I have been together in 5 years. We had a great time and I got to meet some of my dad's childhood friends and some distant relatives. Cheers!
