(2007-11-21) - I haven't had much time to add news updates, so I've cobbled together a summary of recent events. I'll be posting photos galleries for each event, so please click the Gallery link if you are so inclined.
Ringo Heals - Ringo completed 6 months of rehab and his leg is fine. The TPLO surgery was a great choice in our case and I would recommend it to others, assuming one can afford the price.
Rough Draft Gig - Kevin, Nion, Jack, Louis and I played a benefit for Inquiring Mind magazine at the stunningly beautiful Spirit Rock meditation center (shown above) in Woodacre. Wes "Scoop" Nisker sat in and sang several tunes with us.
The Mercedes - I finally purchased and licensed that '77 Mercedes from Pierce. I fixed it up in time to pick up Kathy, Dot's sister, at the airport for her recent visit. She's not fast, but she's clean and reliable. With only 120K miles on the odometer, the car should last me at least until I'm 122. And we're sure to convert it to biodiesel some day.
Celebrating Dad's 79th Birthday - I traveled to Bloomington to celebrate Dad turning 79. He, mom and I had a great time. This trip I had time to relax, and still squeezed in visits to Bloomfield to see Janene and Keith Hanauer's farm, brother Dan and Bob--midway to St. Louis, church at First United Methodist, and an overnight in Indianapolis with old friends Gary Dolick and JoAnn Hirata.
Sister-In-Law Kathy Visits - Energizer bunny Kathy (on the right) is always fun to be around. She and Dot went to the Clairmont spa, shopped in downtown Walnut Creek and spent long nights sharing sisterly stories. My favorite part was when Kathy and Dot replaced our kitchen sink faucet the morning it broke. I'm hoping this will become a permanent tradition, Kathy coming in early November to kick off the holiday season.
Olive Harvest Party - Again this year Dot and I attended the Olive Harvest party at the McEvoy Ranch. Rough Draft played a couple of quick sets on the first stage. We saw old friends Beth Lisick and Eli Crews, Kitty Margolis and Alfonso "Monte" Montuori, and spent time with Kevin and Rosemary Griffin and host Nion McEvoy. The second band was superb, featuring our buddy Carl Arnold on drums, the solid and entertaining Terry Miller on 6-string upright bass and led by the dashing Tim Hockenberry on electric piano and trombone. You will enjoy Dot's Olive Harvest page.
